Hi everyone,
My name is Viktor and this is my last semester of B.Sc in Computer Science.
I chose this course because at the last semester I was sitting the course Computer Graphics and after that I was very interested to learn more about 3d programing. In ComputerGraphics I was using OpenGL with C++ and C#.
I am looking forward to learn more about computer graphics
Viktor

Lo, I'm Sindri.
I've been in HR for as long as I can remember. I've worked with visualizations before, using misc. tools such as R and the likes.
Cheers,

Hi everyone,
My name is Haukur H. Þórsson and I'm a software developer for Eskill, where I've worked for the last 8 years. (Formerly for Innn since 2001, which then merged with Eskill in 2007). At work I'm almost entirely focusing on web-based solutions and websites and things related to that.
I'm finishing the last quarter of my BSc. degree - when this semester is over, I've got about 22 ECTs left.
The reason I chose this course is that I found it intriguing - it's quite far from anything I've done before. Sure, I've been on the other end of the table, playing 3d games and such, but I've never really approached this field from a programming/designing perspective. I just decided to try it out, I'll probably be challenging ... but then it'll be more rewarding once it's finished.
Also it will be a good reason to learn Python which everyone seems to be raving about these days ;D
BTW, anyone else having problems with the avatars? Mine refuses to show up. It's like I just can't attach it to my profile, the avatar URL box is always blank when I go back to the edit profile page.

Hello. My name is Jón Trausti and it's my 4th semester at HR.
I've been interested in computer programming ever since I was really young and A.I. has always been a big cloud for me that I want to study more into.
I've created a few games using Adobe Flash (multiplayer chess and online pictionary). I've often thought about creating an AI for my chess game but my only solution so far would be brute force, checking all possible moves and calculating what'd be the best move. I also created a chat server where I'd be interested in data mining the conversations between people and create an artificial bot that can create sentences like the famous Google Bot.
For example when I give the bot the word "Hello" it would calculate what's the most used word in percentage is used after ,,Hello" by the people. Then I'd output that word and find the next most likely word and settera..
There's also big part of me that wants to learn A.I. for better understanding of our own brain, I recently watched a documentary of a program that emulates the brain, which was seeded with sound for consciousness and the emulated brain would actually play with the music, edit it and synchronize. I'll post a link to it when I find the site.
So it'll be interesting to see what I will learn and use from this course.

haukurhaf: Regarding your avatar dilemma. 1) Is it possible that the avatar picture you're referencing is larger than 100x100 pixels? 2) Make sure that the picture you're referencing isn't on some password protected URL and that it's a direct URL to the picture file itself, that is, the URL should end with .jpeg (or whatever your file format is). 3) Make sure that you select "None" from the avatar drop down box above the URL input field (probably doesn't make a difference though). 4) Make sure you enter your password into both password fields before hitting the "Modify Profile" button. This is at least what I did and it seems to have worked out fine.

Hi everyone. My name is Hrafn Þorri Þórisson. I'm a BSc. student in computer science and enrolled in RU's Aperio program. I work at RU's AI lab, CADIA, and I’ve been studying intelligent systems for several years. My research emphasis is on the origins, evolution and nature of creativity. Although I'm not much of a gamer I've always had an interest in games and especially game design. Virtual environments in general combine many of my interests; simulations, artificial intelligence, concept art & design. I also enjoy writing and blog at ThinkArtificial.org about cutting edge science & tech. Last semester I began writing science fiction as well. Other everyday things I enjoy are drawing and design, films, reading—currently Cat's Cradle, 7 Years in Tibet and The Golden Compass I. Feel free to drop me a line if you want to have a talk.

Hi all. One humorous implementation is prDoom, where you play "Doom", literally shooting the active processes of the system (rather pointless). /Þór I've always wanted to debug that way; a shotgun to the head of a Stack Overflow Demon. ;D

Hello Everyone!
My name is David and this is my first semester of M.Sc in Computer Science. I chose to take on this course both because I think I'll learn alot from it and also because it sounded very fun! I took the Computer Graphics course here in HR in 2007 and I remember creating a 3d world being quite the challange. It'll be interesting to see how much further you can go using an engine (Panda3D).

Hi, my name is Þorgeir and work at a company call Eskill ( Innn until 2007 ). There my primary focus has been on web based applications.
Although I've always been interested in computer graphics and virtual environments I've only just scratched the surface on the subject. I messed around in 3d studio max some 10 years ago and finished the final project the introduction to AI course.
I'm looking forward to participate in this course and taking on the challenges.

Hi all, Im at my 3rd year of the bachelor program in computer science. I think that computer graphics is a very rewarding area of computer science, since you get something on the screen almost right away. But apart from that I have been interested in 3D graphics for a pretty long time now and am really looking forward for the coming lectures.
