I'm sorry I didn't post this link sooner... got sucked into other projects and totally forgot about it until now... If you follow this link, you'll find the products of one very active individual who has ported Panda3D to Mac OS X (it's a DMG, the installation is drag'n'drop ). He has also produced a maya2egg exporter which should work with OS X and probably with other platforms as well.

There's good support in the Panda3D forum thread about the release. I've been running it for a few days now on an Intel MacBook. There are some issues, but it's generally usable. It's supposed to be a universal build (I haven't verified that).

Hrafn Þorri: Note that it was updated on jan. 31st, so if your'e using an older version, you may want to update. The update fixed amongst other things the audio issues for me and Birna.

Oh, cool. Thanks! Do you mean you got OpenAL working for audio? Mine worked when using the p3fmod_audio audio library (set in Panda's config.prc file); the former is preferable since p3fmod is proprietary.

No, I havn't tried it agains OpenAL. That probably requires Panda to be linked against ALSA, or a manual compilation of the ALSA libraries.. I really havn't given it that much thought. Although I should if I'm going to write the final project on the Mac, since although the audio works, it barely does so. The trapdoor example we had in class today only played one of the samples (Panda complained about the other one being truncated), and occasionally, it chopped the audio. I may investigate further after this project being done

So, the OS X 1.6.0-pre was updated on Feb. 23rd (day before yesterday), in casy you wanted to know It does however not solve (for me on 2 distinct machines) panda crashing when setShaderAuto() is active.

Ok, I have verified it. Panda3D on OS X (the 1.6.0-pre version) will not use the hardware shaders - period.
The person porting it does however state that it will be fixed for release.
I'm not sure I'm going to wait that long, so I'm investigating other venues.

UPDATE: As shown in lab class, the shaders do in fact work. The setShaderAuto() directive and the auto-shader do however _not_.

EDIT: Nevermind. Þarf bara aðeins að pússa config.
Takk! En virkar glow demoið hjá þér? Lýsir ekki fyrir mig eftir uppfærslu.
