cleverbot.com/ - one of the better AI i know off it is a chat bot, and has the ratio for Turing test: "They revealed that Cleverbot was voted to be human 59.3% of the time. Real humans did only slightly better and were assumed to be humans 63.3% of the time." you can also teach it things, like ask it what 2 + 2 ? and if the answer is incorrect, then answer no its 4 as a reply, eventually it will learn that 2 + 2 is 4 and answers 4 when asked what is 2 + 2?

Wouldn't it have been better to have a thread like "Assignment 1 - Applications" just for the answers, so we have the rest of the forum for other questions? Unfortunately I can create a new thread only, if I have a valid question and answers for a poll. Google.(com|de|is|...) and most bigger Search Engines are using AI's to give better results to your searchs. Therefore it uses the AI to determine what the topic of the site is really about (if the words are there by coincidence, or if it is the main topic of the site) as well as to include results with the best fitting synonyms to your search as well as spelling mistakes or translations. Furthermore it parses the input for special questions, it can directly answer (like math). It might also use data from other sources like analytic tools, measuring the time users spend on a site, and how many other sites are referencing the site, to rate the relevance and quality better. What ever technics Google is using in very detail is unknown though, as it is one of the keys of the success on the market of search engines. |

getpopfile.org/ is an email classification tool or spam filter that sorts out messages into categories you have created by breaking down words or parsing attachments. When first installed this application doesn't have any percept sequence or knowledge so it does require some training at first so it can classify your emails.

translate.google.com/ Google Translate is a good example of an AI application. Its ability to translate entire sentences, though sometimes with wrong and hilarious results, is an amazing feature in itself. The application can also recognize the language of a given input without fail (in my personal experience).

openmind.media.mit.edu/ Open Mind Common Sense enables computers to learn general knowledge over the web by asking users if a statement put forth is true, false or sort of. You can then ask about a topic to see what it knows about the topic. Over time gathering more "common sense" about almost anything.
