Group member: Angelo Cafaro and Lorenzo Scagnetti.
Virtual Environment Part: - Creation of a multiplayer play room, where users can enter and play a specific game (to define); - Each user can control his avatar and play the game with the other users currently online; - The main goals are: the multiplayer handling and the development of an engaging and immersive play room.
Natural Language Processing Part:
- Mainly, we refer to the 1.16 - A Simple Embodied Dialog System; - We want to include this part in order to improve the social interaction during the play time; - We plan to analyze gestures releted to speech observing real matches ( We would ask to someone to play for us); - Users can input text through a chat box and using the Simple Embodied Dialog System along with analyzed data, the user's avatar performs the associated gestures.
Our project is a merge of 2 different initial ideas. The first was a simulation of the life in Reykjavik. The second one an adventure game in a unknown planet against monsters. The result is an adventure game for an Erasmus student that have to learn some "features" of Iceland and fights against aliens.
Idea: Implement the saying: Like a Bull in a china store (In German: Like an Elephant in a porcelain store) At first a funny story is set. After that a short introducation of the do's and dont's is given by an avatar/guide. After that there are different rooms (levels) in which you have to guide an elephant through different rooms filled with different procelain stuff which is stored in shelves and on tables. The goal is to master all levels destroying procelain as less as possible.
Idea: Let smart avatars become even 'smarter' from the dialogues point of view, reproducing some 'human' behavioural componenets like "mood", inner ethic, and stuff like this, to make these avatars able to build different dialogues only changing these parameters. I'll work for the Cadia Populus project and try to implement these kind of features into this engine.
